Thanks to the wonderful people at Energus who allowed us to use their fantastic facilities and a lot of hard work by the WCDSSG members we held our very first SEND conference on the 9th November. This was attended by approximately 50, with a mixture of professionals and parents. They listened to four great speakers covering a wide range of topics;
Dr Colin Dean from Special iApps talking about educational technology
Amanda Glennon from Inclusive Teaching Matters talking about Numicon
Professor Sue Buckley OBE from Down’s Syndrome Education International
Susan Oglanby talking about Makaton
Thank you to all our speakers and attendees. Here is some of the wonderful feedback we have received;
“It was such a great day, with such a perfect balance of speakers. Well done”
“Well done you did a fantastic job. I found it very informative and useful. Thank you”
“Great weekend in Cumbria- thanks to West Coast Down’s Syndrome Support Group for inviting us to talk about making numbers real! #Numicon“
“We had a great time at the West Coast Down’s Syndrome Support Group conference this weekend! It's fantastic to see so many people supporting children and young adults.
